About me 2016 Edition

Hey! Thanks for visiting my blog. I’m Jessica.

I’m 21 years old and I was born and raised in a small town in Illinois. No, i’m not from Chicago. My hometown is about 30 minutes east of St. Louis.

Growing up around St. Louis was a blessing. I was raised with toasted ravioli, fresh brewed Budweiser, and overall just a great place to live.

Within the past couple of years the social norms have changed throughout America, so to follow suit St. Louis has been corrupted. Crime has increased, and the quality of living has gone down. Granted, I have never lived in Missouri, nor do I ever plan to live in the city of St. Louis, I have noticed an increase of negative publicity in the news.

Living within 30 minutes of Busch Stadium, the St. Louis Arch, the St. Louis Zoo, the City Museum, and the St. Louis Science Center made my elementary school field trips and my childhood quite tolerable. Even as an adult, the Anheuser-Busch brewery, the Hill, and even the attractions i mentioned before still made St. Louis an exceptional city to grow up near.

Enough about that. Back to things about myself…

I absolutely love the St. Louis Cardinals. I grew up a fan, and I will die a fan.

I love sports in general. I never got into a team for any sport other than baseball. Football is awesome to watch, but i’m not dedicated to one specific team or league for that matter. I couldn’t tell you the last time watched a basketball game. Hockey, on the other hand, is something that i just recently got into. I still don’t fully understand it (unlike baseball, which i fully understand), and I don’t really have a specific team either. Mike’s team is Tampa Bay, so i’ve grown very fond of them, but I don’t like liking a team simply because a friend likes them, but damn they’re good.

I love music. Although I am a terrible singer, i’ll belt out any lyric at any given time. Music speaks to me in more ways than I can explain. I listen to absolutely every genre of music.

Country is by far my favorite genre. I love cruising in the summer with the windows down, no shoes on, and the music blaring. I appreciate old country, but still enjoy new age country music as well. I proudly know majority of the words to every song played on the radio.

My second favorite genre is Alternative? I’m not really sure if that’s the right genre title. Taking Back Sunday, Reliant K, Fall Out Boy, The Maine, All Time Low, UnderOath, The Used, The Killers, etc.  All of that kind of stuff. “Middle school music”

Movies. See, I’m not big on movies. I would much rather sit at home at watch DVD than go to the movie theater, for sure. I do enjoy movies though. But if you ask me if i’ve seen your favorite movie, the answer is usually “no”.

TV. Yeah, same as movies, but for different reasons. For the last 3 years, i haven’t really owned cable. We did for a short period of time, but it wasn’t long. I watched American Idol, Survivor, and The Amazing Race.

I’m all about Netflix. All day everyday. Current show: Prison Break. (Jan 2016)

What else is there? I don’t know. I love being outside. I love hunting and fishing. I love photography. I love animals. I love organizing things. I love Pinterest, but never do anything other than wish I could be that creative.

I am a Air Force Photojournalist. Basically, I capture and share the Air Force story. Photography, journalism, community engagement, and social media are all a part of my job.

I joined the Air Force on June 9 2015. I was in Basic Training until August 1.

I started Tech School August 17, 2015. I graduated Dec. 18, 2015.

My first duty station was Minot AFB, ND. We got here on January 6. So this blog pretty much is all of the ND adventures.
