Kinda like a myspace about me blog post?

Am I getting into the age group that’s reminiscing too much? Am I the only one missing the early 2000s? I use to have to argue with my sister everyday after school about when we would switch computer times so I could AIM all my friends and update my away message…..

Okay anyway, I’m just going to ramble on about myself and throw in random tidbits of information to hopefully pull some of you into my crazy life!

1. I’m Jessica, as I’ve said. My husband, mom, and family all call me Jessie. Professionally I’m known as Jessica and I introduce myself to new people as Jessica. I went by Jessie my whole life until I joined the military, so I’m sure if I ran into high school chums, they’d still call me Jessie.

2. I joined the Air Force in June 2015. (I’ll make a blog post about my joining journey and then tag it here, eventually!)

3. I have been very happily married to Victor since February 2019! (Here’s where our story will be tagged)

4. We are expecting our first child in February 2020! (Here’s that story’s future tag)

5. I love animals! Currently, I have a miniature dachshund (Todd) and a domestic American shorthair (Jasper). I had a Beagle/Basset Hound mix (Copper) and an American Staffordshire mix (Diesel), but they now live with my ex-husband. I deployed in April 2018 and he took them to his home state when he got out. They have been raised together since we got Diesel and now I can’t imagine separating them, so we have decided they will stay together.

6. I am a HUGE sports fan, generally speaking. Favorite sport? It changes between Hockey and Baseball. They’re separate seasons, so it’s easy to watch. October is a hard month because hockey is starting and I always want to watch because I miss it so much, but baseball is in it’s most exciting month, so sometimes it’s hard to choose. I bleed St. Louis Cardinal’s red and my veins are filled with Tampa Bay Lightning blue. Football is ehhhh. I can watch it, but don’t follow anything. It’s my husband’s favorite sport, so, I watch it with him.

7. I love my family.

8. I’m going to the University of Nebraska-Omaha and I’m pursuing my Bachelor’s in Mass Communications, or something of the sort. Basically, whatever they’re going to give me for Public Affairs, journalism, communications, English classes to get me to be a broadcaster/journalist some day.

9. I’m not one to really have friends. I grew up being friends with everyone, and I’ve never had a “group” or someone to really call a “best friend” by my own definition. I have GREAT FRIENDS. Don’t get me wrong. I have countless people I can count on, and a handful of people I still call best friends. It’s confusing I know…

10. I am a definite tom boy.  I grew up playing in the dirt, riding four wheelers, and working on my  grandpa’s farm with him. While I was a tom boy, I was also on the cheerleading team from 8th grade until my senior year.  I was co-captain by junior year, and captain my senior year. I have played softball since before I was legally allowed to join the league. I watched my family play all of my youth, and envied my sister as soon as she joined t-ball.

11. I’m fairly comfortable with my mental health, and I think mental health is the most important component of health, as opposed to physical. I’ve never spoken with a professional about anything, but I self-diagnose myself a lot and I know that’s wrong. I try to respect those that have been diagnosed as much as I can. I am not strong enough to talk to someone, yet. I think I have “suffered” from depression and still sometimes currently do. I often think I am bi-polar based on the sometimes severeeee mood swings. I say again, I have not talked to a professional and these are self-diagnoses based on reading (reliable sources). I hope to one day become strong enough to speak to someone.

11b. I am finally consistently happy for the first time in my life. I struggle (almost) daily still with things here and there, but I am actually, genuinely, happy.

12. I love photography and I collect old cameras. I have been obsessed with imagery since I was young. My father would always have us in front of, and behind, a camera from the day we had the strength in our arms to hold it up. *with the strap around our necks of course!* I don’t take photos as much as I reallllly wish I did, but I keep promising myself I’m going to.

I’ll stop there….

Look forward to many more random tidbits or blogs of random things ❤
