2019 Shadowbox

Okay, so I’ve had this shadow box since 2014. I’ve used it just for keepsake type stuff, but this year was the first year that it got really really full of stuff that tells an amazing story.

V and I (okay basically just me, but he did put some stuff in!) would put stuff in from dates, events, trips, etc. So now, I’m just going to go through the items that were in there and explain our year together.

Some things weren’t included in the box that really make up an important part of our 2019. The most important thing being that we got married. There isn’t really a momento or paper (other than our wedding certificate) that we could have really put in there, but that was definitely the highlight of 2019.

Here’s all the stuff that fit in there!

So, at the top is storm chasers stuff! We started going to the games the month we moved here. We loved every game, sat in a new seat almost every time, played catch at more than half of the games we went to, always got hot dogs, took Todd for “bark in the park”, won some instagram giveaways for posting selfies, got on the Jumbotron for doing the “simba” pose when Victor held my hips as I stood on the seat in front of us, and basically fell in love with each other over and over because we both love baseball and love taking about the game together.

There’s also some Lancers tickets – which is a local USHL hockey team. We “went with”, basically sat near, some of Victor’s work peoples. It was great to be in an arena again, but we only went the one time.

Next is our at home pregnancy test!! Wow, was I shocked to the core that I was pregnant. I walked out of the bathroom with the first test in my hand, wrapped up. I sat by V on the couch and said, ready? He just said “yep”. Flipped it over and my god there was faint line and my heart started racing. V’s reaction was so expected too, he just said “well, I told you”. Which is true because he had a good idea, and he’s the whole reason I even took the test in the first place… but wow. We were both so excited, nervous, and I’m sure every emotion everyone’s ever experienced when they found out. Now I’m pushing 34 weeks along, and we’re still feeling all of those emotions. But, mostly, we’re so happy together and sooooo excited for this journey together. Here’s out birth announcement!

The hotel keys on the right are from all over. Victor keeps his cards when he travels for work, and we kept our cards from when we drove down from Minot, and when we drove to California. We have keys from Denver, Las Vegas, Fargo, and Kansas City.

First was our trip to Kansas City! We went for some Royals games and to see the zoo. He took me to two freaking games… it was an amazing weekend. Here’s some pics!

Next was our trip to California. We did a road trip, because well I wanted to, and we stopped in Denver, (unexpectedly in) Moab, and Las Vegas. We also got to go to a Diamondbacks game when we went to Phoenix, which crosses off another MLB stadium for both of us. When one of the backup St. Louis Cardinals catchers came out of the dug out to throw with the outfielders… he threw me the ball!! It was so awesome!! For me, I’ve only been to: Tampa, St. Louis, Kansas City, and Arizona. Hopefully, there’s plenty more to come.

We both promoted on July 1st!! V PLANNED OUR PROMOTION CEREMONY. Like, this man doesn’t really even care about stuff like that, but he did it for me. I’m sooooo lucky.

Some papers from some dates we went on: Axe throwing, mini golf a few times (scorecards MIA), Strategic Air Command museum…

So yeah that pretty much wraps up what came in the shadow box.

Some other important things that happened to us in 2019 that weren’t in the shadowbox, but are very important.

• I graduated ALS with the Commandant’s award – very honored
• I met V’s dad’s family on our trip to California
• V met my family over the holidays
• Our relationship has done a complete 180, and I think I can speak for both of us when I say we are the happiest we have ever been together.
• We found an awesome daycare for Todd that truly takes care of him.
• We ate at a ton of new restaurants and plan to indulge in even more fun this coming year.
• We both bought new (to us) cars for our growing family

I love my life #blessed
